Thank you to The Blue Portal for selling both framed prints of my artwork shown in the photo to the right. Both were prints of some of my first challenge paintings done for "Let's Paint New Mexico" that sold quickly. My original acrylic mini painting shown in the middle is still available at the Blue Portal along with it's own easel. The Blue Portal is located next to the famous Church Street Cafe in Old Town Albuquerque and is run by the Assistance League of Albuquerque, all the proceeds go to the artists and all the staff are volunteers. All items are "distinctive handmade articles created by senior citizens" as they advertise and all made by New Mexico artists.
Also available at The Blue Portal is my original acrylic 8"x10" painting shown to the right "Taos Mountain, sides are painted aqua and it is wired ready to hang or you can frame it yourself at a very affordable price you won't find anywhere else.
The photo on the left is a jigsaw puzzle I put together during June and July. During those months I was in the process of selling my mom's Oklahoma home for her and am happy to say it sold fairly quickly. During my childhood our family used to put jigsaw puzzles together and a dear friend had this one she graciously gifted me to help relieve some of the stress involved with all the business I was doing. I really enjoyed working this puzzle and using it as a stress reliever along with a painting I started, which I'll talk about below. The name of the puzzle showing on the box is "Tranquility", which is just what this puzzle helped me gain.
On June 5th I started an oil painting while trying to catch up with my challenge paintings for "Let's Paint New Mexico". This is an oil painting on 16"x20" canvas I worked on in stages finally finishing it July 23rd I've named "Local Flavor Jemez Springs New Mexico". Los Ojos Restaurant Saloon is well known by locals of New Mexico and visitors to the area of Jemez Springs. Many movies and television series have been filmed in the surrounding mountains and communities. This painting is now available for purchase, if interested please contact me by email at joanne@neelygomez.com for more information.
The photo to the left is of an original watercolor painting I did in 2004 for a dear friend I named "Cindy's Peace". After having it matted and framed I fell in love with the painting myself, probably partly because my favorite usual medium is oil painting and this watercolor turned out so beautifully, I just couldn't part with it. In July I learned that Cindy and her family moved into a beautiful new home. Seeing photos of her new home I knew this painting needed to be her birthday/housewarming gift. I'm happy to say on receiving it I got a phone call from her telling me how special what I'd written on the back and this painting means to her. It fits perfectly in her new home and we laughed about my not being able to send it to her until now though she thought the timing and circumstances were absolutely perfect.
As the months of June and July ended and August has begun, I'm so very grateful for all the "angels" in the form of family, friends, collectors and supporters for their help, friendship, encouragement and patience these last few months and you who are reading this blog for your interest in my art. I love being an artist and using the gifts my creator has blessed me with and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the ways you inspire and encourage me to continue being an artist.
